Yanti Peng, 彭妍缇, was born in Hainan and now lives and works on the Gadigal land of the Eora Nation (Sydney, Australia). She is an interdisciplinary designer and artist working across new media, photography, and 3D computer tools. Essentially a gig economy worker by trade. Collectivity, community and connection mobilises her practice; the wheels to her engine.
Unravelling the intimacy between technology and identity, she investigates its immaterial notions and frames it through systems thinking. A rumination process of simplifying and contextualising, complicating then simplifying, and vice versa. Centring individual ideas, feelings and objects whilst placing them macroscopically. Often imbuing humour in making, she plays with spectral extremes, disciplines act as puzzle pieces to allow new methods to stage her observations, research and ideas.
The spectator and spectacle relationship is often resonant in her work.
