i can't afford to live in fantasy but its now reality (series)
Alienation in our production and in our physical reality have encouraged us to indulge in fantasy, delusions and construction of a self that can ‘triumph’ in the contemporary world. Being outside of the conventions of the consensus is discouraged. While simulatenously tearing away from our own fantasy we enter a collective fantasy in which we must wholly surround to absorption or toil under an uncomfortable ‘truth’.
Expanding on that idea of surrending to allow the duality of truths, the duality of the self, this leads to separation and code switching which severes ties with one’s personal versus professional self. Professionals now must now separate their work selves from their leisure selves: it is a technocratic science fiction innovation made to make employees more docile and productive. Extending to any professional settings that aim to acquire capital; social, economic, financial. Where personal settings may also become opportunity for professional work.
